This illustration was published in 1982, DT Studios was in its infancy and I was working with Stan Phillips on Animated TV Commercials. I do not believe that I was paid for the rights to use the piece. It was pitched that I would get "great" exposure for my work. In this case it actually worked out, the original of this painting was purchase by U.S. Equities, Inc. the company who was renovating Denver's Union Station at the time. I also did a version of "Democracy in Reflection" (see www.dtlavercombe.com /LrgPainting7b.htm) for this magazine. I do not have a copy of that cover. Both painting were done in egg tempera and close to the final 9 X 12" print size. I do not know the where about's of either of the originals. I do not even know if the company that bought the Union Station painting is still in existence.
